Extension Nijmegen

Extension Nijmegen – this house is situated on the Hatertseweg in Nijmegen. Next to this important supply road from Nijmegen there are various types of houses. This authentic house, built in 1924 with a ‘Wolfkap’ has been carefully extended by IHC architects. The renovation not only provided more space, but also gives it an architectural touch. The contrast between the existing house and the extension has been sought in designing a contemporary extension.

The existing extension has been replaced by a new and larger construction. More space and light is created by equipping the extension with a lot of glass. A direct connection is sought with the existing living room. On the ground floor the living space has been enlarged by a spacious kitchen and office. The construction consists of modern architecture and unity in materialization and form. The stucco lines embraces all functions, the carport will form part of the home. The connection with the existing characteristic ‘Wolfkap’ is made by a glass façade. Here A large bedroom has been created in the same style as the rest of the extension.

For this project, it was first necessary to request a consultation with the city of Nijmegen. After the plan had been approved, an environmental permit was needed. To have the details right, detailed drawings had to be made, so surprises during construction could be prevented. IHC architects was closely involved during the construction of this project.
