Renovation house Best – this originally outdated home, built around 1950, was ready for demolition after being abandoned for a couple of years. A positive side of the original house is the large garden and it was built on the characteristic gazebo. The downside to the house was the closed façade on the garden side and the open façade facing the street.

We created a design that, except for the gazebo, in nothing reminds to the existing house it once was. The only part left standing was the structure of the house. The new design creates an open living environment, both inside and outside, with a lot of privacy on the front façade. The front façade has a closed character with hidden windows behind the wooden sliding. The rear façade consists completely of glass, with an open view to the backyard.

Various materials have been used to differentiate the volumes of each other. The white stucco creates mass to the main volume. In addition, the glass window frames used at the expansion of the house are kept to a minimum to unite the house with the expansion and the garden. The masonry as dry run ensures protection from the summer sun and makes sure the winter sun is able to heat the house. The wood cladding is used to connect the various rooms with each other.
